Muzzi Family Farms, a longtime Salinas, CA, grower relatively new to the sales end of the deal, has recently created two new sales positions and filled them with industry veterans.
Paul Mocettini has joined the Muzzi sales team as vice president of sales and marketing, effective April 21. He is managing the sales team, as well as seeking out new business opportunities.
Mocettini has held various sales positions in his more than 25 years in the Salinas vegetable industry. Paul Mocettini, Most recently, he was vice president of sales and marketing for Ippolito International in Salinas, a position he held for the past five years. Mocettini started his produce career with Bruce Church Inc., where he was part of the original sales group that launched the Fresh Express salad line. He also spent 10 years with Growers Express, helping launch the Green Giant Fresh program.
Bill Stafford joined the Muzzi sales team several months ago as national director of sales. He is working primarily on club store accounts and retail business. Stafford has been in the produce business for 45 years, and most recently came from River Ranch Fresh Foods/Taylor Farms, where he was director of club sales for nine years.
Muzzi Family Farms is headquartered in Salinas, where the Muzzi family has been involved in the growing, harvesting, cooling and processing of fresh and frozen vegetable items for more than 50 years. Bill StaffordIn 2012, Muzzi Family Farms was established to handle sales of its produce items.
Mocettini said the company primarily operates in the foodservice sector with both its frozen and fresh vegetable lines, but it also has a line of retail spinach packs. Among its core foodservice items are washed, cleaned and bagged leafy greens such as spinach, arugula, kale and spring mix, as well as IQF frozen conventional and organic spinach, kale, Swiss chard, and conventional Bell peppers and Brussels sprouts.
Dominic Muzzi Jr., a partner in Muzzi Family Farms, said that “both Paul and Bill are in newly created positions and my family looks forward to working with them as our company grows into the future.”
The sales team also includes Matt Lyons, Bobby Robertson and Blake Pacheco. The firm markets its products under the “Muzzi Family Farms” label.
